The Pleasure of the Senses

Once upon a time, I stumbled into a London teashop and saw this sign. Like Alice in Wonderland, I did what it said. Here’s how I describe the experience in my book: “Eventually, my plate held only crumbs, and my teacup had but a few damp leaves at the bottom. I tipped the pot - it was empty. I looked at my watch and realized that an hour had passed since I first saw the sign telling me to smell the tea. And, all this time I had been possessed of neither sad memories nor anxious worries. I was completely and simply here, with the tea, the place, the people, myself. I was present. And it felt wonderful.” That was 5+ years ago and now I can’t believe that my book A Cure for Heartache will be out this week!
